Enlisted 9/1/1861, he was mustered into "H" Co. SC 15th Infantry as a Private.
7/2/1863 Wounded, shell fragments in left hip in the Battle of Gettysburg, Pa.; POW; 7/7/1863 transferred to Ft. Delaware, DE.; exchanged 7/31/1863; 8/1/1863 Hospitalized South Carolina Hospital, Petersburg, Va.; returned to duty 4/1864.
Killed In Action in the Battle of The Wilderness, Va.

The 15th Infantry Regiment completed its organization in September, 1861, at Lightwoodknot Springs, near Columbia, South Carolina. Its members were raised in the counties of Richland, Union, Lexington, Kershaw, Fairfield, and Williamsburg.
