The following is an obituary for Katherine Baulig Bowers:
Santa Barbara New Press - 07 Dec 1943:

Santa Maria, Dec. 7 - Mrs. F. J. Bowers died Monday afternoon at her residence, 900 South Broadway, after a prolonged illness. Her age was 77 years. She was the wife of Franklin (sic) J. Bowers, who survives.

A native of New York state, she was born Dec. 3, 1866, at West Leydon. Mr. and Mrs. Bowers were married in Rome, NY, in 1885. She was the former Katherine Lawry (sic). They had made their home in the Santa Maria valley for 38 years.

Mrs. Bowers was an active member of women's organizations of the Catholic church, and also of the Minerva club and the Red Cross. Prior to her recent illness, she had devoted much time to communicty welfare and charitable work. While at Betterqavia, she participated in the organization of the Betteravia Community Church.

The surviving relatives, in addition to her husband, are: Four daughters, Mrs. Oscar Doane, Mrs. Walter Stokes, Mrs. Henry LaFranchi, and Mrs. J. M. Jordan, all of Santa Maria; a son, Clinton Bowers, of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren surviving.
