Michelle "Shell" Yvonne Souders, 43, of 2344 Henbird Lane, Lancaster, died Tuesday, August 16, at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia after a brief illness.

She was married 15 years on November 4th to Ronald Lee Souders. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Gordon L. Sheaffer Sr. and Donna L. (Butler) Sheaffer of Lancaster.

Surviving besides her husband and parents are two sons, Brady Lee and Zachary Anthony, both at home; one brother, Gordon L. Jr., married to Alissa J. Sheaffer of Queen Creek, AZ; five uncles; a niece, Abby Sheaffer; a great aunt and uncle, Wesley and Sues Ulmer of Lancaster; 13 cousins and 4 brothers-in-law and families.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward Charles and Violet Mary (Miller) Sheaffer and George M Butler Sr. and Almira Yvonne (Barrett) Butler and a nephew Thomas Jefferson Sheaffer.

She was employed as a claims adjuster for The Loomis Company for the past two years. Prior to that, Michelle had worked for the Erin Group Administrators for ten years as a claims adjuster

A 1979 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, she played clarinet in the marching band and was a member of the Dolphin Synchronized Swim Team. She attended Indiana University of PA where she was in the R.O.T.C., and Franklin & Marshall College.

Michelle lived for her children and family and participated in all their school and sports activities. She was an avid sports fan and a converted Philadelphia Eagles follower. She loved Rehoboth Beach, DE, and entertaining friends and family. She was a member of RICA and a member and volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held on Friday from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, and on Saturday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00-11:00 AM.
