Born December 9, 1935 in Pecatonica, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Grace (Kalthoff) Lameyer. Marilyn attended Pecatonica Schools, graduating high school with the class of 1953. She worked several jobs from waitressing at The Wolf’s Den to an office assistant for the Barber Coleman Company. She married Don Schuur on November 21, 1959 in Pecatonica, Illinois. Marilyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pecatonica, Illinois and helped with many events at the church including the many dinners served there. Making cookies for bible school was something she looked forward to each year. As her grandchildren grew up, you could find her at all their athletic events they participated in from baseball and softball to soccer and track and always with a pen and notebook in hand keeping score.
Survivors include husband, Don Schuur, Pecatonica, Illinois; children, Susan (Richard, Jr.) Buss, Davis, Illinois, Shelley Buss, Cedarville, Illinois and Steven Schuur, Winnebago, Illinois; grandchildren, John (Allie) Buss, Littleton, Colorado, Jason Buss, Davis, Illinois, Danielle (Josh) Snyder, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Kristi Love, Germantown, Wisconsin and Paige and Blake Schuur, Winnebago, Illinois; great grandchildren, Eli Buss, Littleton, Colorado and Kinsley Snyder, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and sister Ann Ralston, Caledonia, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Hiram Lameyer.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with Pastor Terry Theiss, St. John’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, Illinois.
