CONCORD — Mr. Julian Snider Allen, 92, of 741 Union St. So., passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Born March 11, 1913, in Anson County, he was a son of the late James Allen and Mary Jane Staton Allen. He was a shipper at Cannon Mills. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Concord, where he was a deacon and was very active in Sunday school and other church related activities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Edna Walters Allen; six brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Joe Allen and wife, Barbara, of Shelby and Charles Allen and wife, Donna, of Columbia, S.C.: a daughter, Jean Allen McGraw of Winston, Ga.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind close and special friends Howard and Betty Gaskey and Jerry and Ruth Sigmon and many kind and caring neighbors.

The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord, with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home an hour before the service.
