Carl a. Fletcher – 85, of Parrsboro, formerly of Exeter,Ont. and New Salem,
Cumberland County died Tuesday in South Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Parrsboro.
Born in New Salem, he was the son of the late Charles and Maude (Lunn) Fletcher, A
retired merchant, he operated a general store in New Salem. He is survived by five
daughters, Olga (Mrs. Walter Davis), Evelyn (Mrs. Gordon Bieber), Cora (Mrs. Gerald
Wurm), Mona Traquair, all of Exeter, Ont; Marion (Mrs. Ralph Wasson), Parrsboro; two
sons, Roy and Alton, both of New Salem; four sisters, Mrs. Lela Field, Advocate; Mrs.
Emma Nuttall, Truro; Mrs. Jean Slocum, Cape Cod, Mass.; Mrs. Nellie Blakeney,
Sussex, N.B.; two brothers, Leonard and Morton, both of New Salem; 33 grandchildren;
55 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his
wife the former Gertrude Atkinson; two sons, Sydney and Roland; several brothers and
sisters. The body is in Smith's funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be
held at 4 p.m. today, Rev. Fraser Smith and Rev. Ralph Macdonnell officiating. Burial
will be in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Ont. Donations may be made to South Cumberland
Memorial Hospital, New Salem Union Church Memorial fund or any charity.
