Reverend Bartz passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 1974 at the age of 81 years, after a short illness, in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born in Racine on July 24, 1892 and lived here all his life. On May 15, 1926 he was married to the former Ruth Stoffel in Racine. During World War I, he served in the U. S. ARmy overseas. AT the time of his death, Rev. Bartz was Pastor Emeritus of Grace Lutheran Church. He served Grace Lutheran Church as Pastor for over 50 years. His First Church as a minister was in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and in 1959 he served on the Armed Services Commission in Panama as a Vacancy Pastor. Rev. Bartz was active in various church organizations before he retired and served on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran High School. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 76 and a member of the Owls Club. Surving him are his wife, Ruth; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William and Esther Bartz of Milwaukee, James Bartz of Racine; one daughter and son in law, Grace and Earl Rosenke of Racine, 13 grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert (Olle) and Eva Bartz of Racine; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Alma Krenzke of Arlington Hts., Ill, Selma and Walter Huge of Hobart, Ind., and Clara and Jack Boerger of Racine. Many nieces and nephews and many griends also survive. Funeral services will be held from the GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH; corner of Washington and West Lawn Ave, Saturday, July 6, 1974 at 10 A.M. with Rev. Gerold Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Friends many call at the Grace Lutheran Church after 4 P.M. Frieday. Memorials in memory of Rev. Bartz to Lutheran High School or the Grace Lutheran Chruch Organ Fund have been suggested.
