James L. Boyles, 67, of 1813 Meetinghouse Road, Upper Chichester, a retired carpenter foreman, died Sunday after being stricken at his home. He was pronounced at Sacred Heart Hospital, Chester.

Employed by Sun Co., Marcus Hook, for 31 years, retiring in 1963. Born in Millington, MD, Mr. Boyles moved to Delaware County as a young boy. He had lived in Marcus Hook, Chadds Ford, and Ogden before moving to his late residence 3 1/2 years ago.

Mr. Boyles was an active charter member of the Chichester Wesleyan Church and was a former trustee at the church. He was a member of the Honor and the Sapphire Clubs at Sun Co. He was the husband of the former Dagmar E. Friedel, whom he married 50 years ago. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Arthur F. Brant, Jr. of Claymont; Mrs. Robert Hickey of Lower Chichester; and Mrs. Donald Rash of Upper Chichester; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Himelright of Parkside; Mrs. Gertrude Chew of Millsboro, DE, and Mrs. Paul Ryan of Claymont, and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, 9th and Main Streets, Trainer. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester.

Calling hours will be after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
