Leonard J. Fouts and Mabel Claire Riner were married Feb. 11, 1897 at Ida County, Iowa.

Former Well-Known Resident, L. H. Fouts, Laid to Rest On Wednesday Last
Leonard J. Fouts was born in Piatt County, Illinois, on December 28th, 1876, moving in 1893 over to the State of Iowa, where he met Mabel Claire Riner, whom he married on February 11, 1897. In the spring of 1907 they came to Canada, residing on a farm some four miles north of Lacombe, Alberta. After seventeen years on the Lacombe farm, Mr. Fouts moved his family to Camrose, where he and his sons engaged in general teaming, later taking up the dray and transfer business in partnership with his son, Harold. Some years ago this business was sold and Mr. Fouts retired to Edmonton due to failing health.
Throughout his life, Mr. Fouts was active in many community organizations, and was always noted for his keen sense of humor. For forty-four years he was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge, his membership being with this brotherhood in Lacombe at the time of his passing. He was a member of the United Church at Camrose, taking this membership to Edmonton, where, due to ill health, it had not been possible to become active, although his faith in God was never diminished.
He is survived by his loving wife and three sons, Daniel Peter, Edmonton, Lloyd Irvin, Round Hill, and Harold Leroy, Camrose; and five daughters, Cecile Leora (Mrs. Jack Roberts), Lacombe; Mildred Marie (Mrs. Thore Carlson), Delburne; Florence Lucille (Mrs. Walter Hanson), Penticton, B.C.; Violet Irene (Mrs. Virgil Gillespie), Ohaton; and Juneau Belle Viola (Mrs. Loyde Ashton), Ohaton. In addition there are 20 grandchildren. Surviving are also three brothers and one sister residing in various parts of the U.S.A., and one brother in Vancouver, B.C.
On February 11th, 1947, Mr. and Mrs. Fouts celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Camrose with all their children and grandchildren present, and his passing at this time is the first break in the family circle.
