Born in 1883, Charles attended Charterhouse School in Surrey from 1896-1900.
During the First World War he held the rank of Major in the Denbighshire (Hussars) .Yeomanry (attached Tank Corps). He served with honour being awarded the Military Cross, the Croix de Guerre avec Palmes, Twice Mentioned in Despatches, and was also made a member of the Légion d'Honneur.
During the Second World War he held the rank of Captain and served as a military interpreter.
Sadly he died at the age of sixty, of an illness brought on by the strain of service.
