Eula Barrett Martin, 93, of Hickory, died June 13, 2004 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a 12 year struggle with Alzheimier's disease.

Born March 9, 1911 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas L and Annie Johnson Barrett.

A charter member of Hillside Baptist Church, she was very active for years and retired from Shuford Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bramon Martin, a grandson, Jeffery Herman, a great-granddaughter, Symantha Davis, three great-grandsons, four brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jean Martin of Hickory and Tony and Libby Martin of Vale. Four daughters and a son-in-law, Sue Kincaid of Lenoir, Rita and Floyd Herman and Dee Loveland of Hickory, and Vicky Hagee Canipe of Claremont, a sister, Allie Watkins of Reidsville. Five grandsons, Tim Martin and Wayne Herman of Hickory, Ricky Rice of Marion, Charles Martin of Vale and Scott Hagee of Conover. Four granddaughters, Diane Martin of Hudson, Donna Helton of Granite Falls, Leslie Hudson of Florida, Angie Rice of Valdese and Amy Hall of Long View. Two granddaughters, Tina Crews of Newton and Carisa Pore of Rockwood, Tenn. A stepgranddaughter, Dolly Parlier of Mountain View. 25 great grand children and three great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. David Crump at 4pm Wednesday at Hillside Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery.
