Gertrude was the daughter of Richard & Mary (Swartzinski) Diamond. Her father was a police officer and was killed on duty when she was two years old. Gertrude married Joseph Vincent Moorton (1914-1976) on June 17, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. To this union are four known children;Geraldine (Moorton) Mitchell (1941-1999) Lillian (Moorton) Harris (1944-2016) Joseph Moorton (1949-1982 and Mary Ann (Moorton) Harris.
