She was born July 30, 1926, in Texas; daughter of the late John Edward and Jimmy Skipper Purvis. She was a medical assistant at the Doctor's Clinic in Trenton until her retirement. She was a member of the Dyer Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Christian Endeavor Food Pantry.
She is survived by three children, Johnny McIlwain, Sherrie McIlwain Kinton, and Beckie Jo Maxwell; grandchildren, John Corey Kinton (Kathy), Will Kinton (Melissa), Megan Langston Barnes (Chris), Melissa Langston Stafford (Josh); great grandchildren, Megan, Ziggy, John Patrick, Mary Jane Elizabeth Kinton; Zeb & Taylor Kinton; Jacob & Kendall Barnes; Payton & Logan Stafford; and one great-great grandchild, Leo Kinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John William McIlwain, Sr.
