A few of these trees are still standing on the place, but the greater part of them were transferred by John P. New York, where his sons became the head of the once famous Risley seed establishment. He was the grandfather of Olive Risley Seward, the adopted daughter of Hon. William H. Seward, who accompanied him in his journey around the world in 1870. The Risley log house was destroyed by fire in 1828.
