Stroud was the general manager of Bill Reynolds Sporting Wear when he died. He also had worked as general manager of Guynn's Sporting Goods for 20 years.
Stroud was a member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge A.M. and A.F No. 1194 and the Oldtimers Baseball Association. He also was a former board member of the Amateur Softball Association of Fort Worth. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Stroud of Fort Worth; two sons, Robert G. Stroud of Fort Worth and Richard A. Stroud of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Ann Robleilo of Dallas and Jan Degelia of Los Angeles; his brother, Roy Stroud of Austin; his sister, Ruth Whisennand of Spicewood; and three grandchildren.
