MARY COX OBITUARY
COX MARY IRENE 83, a long-time resident of Warren, died March 31, 2012 at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Sterling Heights, surrounded by family.

Mary was born January 5, 1929 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the daughter of Lee and Bertha Eakins; and she often spoke with deep affection about her parents and her upbringing on the family farm. Mary enjoyed 47 happy and cherished years of marriage to Lee Cox, who preceded her in death; and was a loving mother to her children and her sons- and daughters-in-law, whom she loved as her own, Rita and Richard Harris, Jim and Renee Cox, Jeff and Kathy Cox, and Elizabeth and Darryl McNiff. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandsons, one brother and two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Her devotion to her family was matched only by her dedication to her faith since her baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 12, 1939. Mary spent countless hours in volunteer work assisting any who expressed interest in increasing their knowledge about the Bible and its message. In addition to her kind and humble yet adventurous spirit, she took delight in life's simple pleasures such as canning and preserving the fruits of her amazingly productive garden, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her beloved family and dear friends. Mary also had a quick wit and keen sense of humor. A memorial service has been held.
