Sara Jones Carter, 93, of Washington, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, in Washington Hospital.

She was born May 26, 1911, in East Finley Township, a daughter of George P. and Anna Crow Jones.

Mrs. Carter was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Washington, and attended Pleasant Grove School.

She was a homemaker and member of Current Events Club of Washington.

On November 29, 1928, in Washington, she married Harry A. Carter, who died April 11, 1996.

Surviving are two sons, George D. (Gayle) Carter of Lawrence and Vance Carter of Washington; seven grandchildren, Robin McCloskey, Janet Kelleher, Jay, Kent, Kirk and Scott Carter and Crista Woods; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces.

Deceased are a daughter, who died in infancy; and two sisters, Jane Crawford and Lois Houston.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of services, Tuesday, May 17, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will be private and held in Prosperity Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions be directed to American Heart Association.
