In 1900, Richard P. Addis, aged 21, was living in Brookhaven, NY, in the home of his parents, James Addis, aged 56, and Rebecca C. Addis, aged 55. He was shown to be a farmer.

In 1930, Richard P. Addis, aged 51, was living on Christian Street, Stony Brook, NY with his wife, Louise W. Addis.

In 1940, Richard B. Addis, aged 61, was living in Stony Brook, NY, with his wife, Lillian H. Addis, aged 56, stepson, Julius C. Ward, and his widowed father, James T. Addis, aged 77. His wife was shown to be the owner of an antique shop.

On April 26, 1942, Richard Percy Addis, aged 63, stated that he resided on North Country Road, West Setauket, NY, post office Stony Brook, that he was born February 8, 1879 in West Setauket, was not employed, his left eye was partially blind, and gave the name of Mrs. Lillian H. Addis, of the same address as his nearest relative, when he registered for the draft during World War II.

On September 14, 1944, Richard Addis, aged 60, of Stony Brook, New York, died from asphyxiation from illuminating gas escaping from a broken pipe during a hurricane, when a tree fell near his home, breaking a gas main. Both he and wife were asleep at the time. Mrs. Addis was removed to Mather Memorial Hospital where she recovered.
