Christopher Columbus "C.C." Guttery was born in March 1865 in Lamar Co., Texas. He was first married to Catherene E. Wren on April 5, 1885 in Lamar Co., Texas. The 1900 TX Census, Lamar Co., Paris Ward 4, shows C.C. with his wife & daughter. Their names are shown as C.C. Goettry, Kate Goettry & Ella Goettry. C. C. was a day laborer.


The 1910 TX Census, Lamar Co., Paris Ward 3, shows C.C. & wife Catherene running a boarding house. One of the residents was Jerry Spann. C. C. & Catherene divorced & she married Jerry Spann (Rufus Jerry Spann).


C.C. then married a widow from Arkansas, Annie Elizabeth "Bettie" (Caler) Lancaster in August 1917. The 1920 TX Census, Lamar Co., J.P. 8, shows C.C. with his new wife & 5 Lancaster stepchildren. (Christopher Columbus Guttery is listed as C.C. Guthry.) The following year, one of the step-sons, Ezekiel "Zeek" Lancaster, killed C.C. with a gun shot to the head (info from death certificate). Annie died 2 years after that.
