After an illness of three weeks, Charles Wesley Barkman, 91, one of the oldest residents of eastern Greene County, died at his home at Carmichaels, Monday morning, Jan 27, 1947, at seven o'clock. The deceased was well known in Waynesburg, having lived here for a number of years while he served as steward at the Elks Club. Mr. Barkman was the husband of the late Mary Crago Barkman. He was a member of the Lisbon Lodge, I O O F, No. 654, of Carmichaels. He had served two terms as postmaster at Carmichaels. He was a member of the Carmichaels Methodist Church. Most of his life was spent in Carmichaels, but he had also lived in Waynesburg and at Chicago, Ill. His parents were the late William and Julia (Hawkins) Barkman. Surviving are two daughters and a son, Mrs J C Matthews, Chicago, Ill; Miss Elizabeth Barkman at home and W R Barkman of Waynesburg Two granddaughters also survive, namely Mrs. Thomas Blott of Chicago and Mrs. Mary B Tennett, Washington, Pa. He leaves seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Charles Wesley Barkman, aged Carmichaels resident, who died Monday, Jan 27, 1947, will be held from the late home Thursday afternoon, Jan 30, at two o'clock, in charge of Rev Kenneth G Coggan. Special services will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home by members of Lisbon Lodge I O O F No.654 of Carmichaels of which the deceased was a member. Burial will be in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. Friends are being received at any time at the residence. W H Condit, funeral director.
