Mrs. Minnie Wigfield Dies At Age 100

EVERETT -- Mrs. Minnie (Akers) Wigfield, 100, of RD 1, Artemas, died Thursday at Bedford County Memorial Hospital.

A native of Monroe Township in Bedford County, she was born on January 30, 1878, a daughter of the late James N. and Sophia (Deffibaugh) Akers. Her husband, Henry Wigfield, preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Charles W. Wigfield, Clearfield; Harry L. Wigfield, RD 1, Artemas; a foster daughter, Mrs. Eliza (Barnes) Bennett, Artemas; a brother, Earl M. Akers, Crystal Spring; a sister, Mrs. Orintha F. Sigel, Amaranth; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Shreves Chapel United Methodist Church.

The body is at the Connor Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. tomorrow at Fairview United Church of Christ.

The 11 a.m. service at the church will be in charge of Rev. Joseph W. Stewart. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
