James Edward "Jimmy" Robinson, 73, of Woodbine passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in Golden Isles Hospice in Brunswick, following a short illness.

Robinson was born July 6, 1935 to the late Noah Everett Robinson and the late Zoe Evelyn Green Robinson in Folkston. He resided in Folkston until 1950 when he moved to Camden County, where he resided until his death.

During his working years, Robinson was a plumber by trade. He worked on the Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay for approximately 37 years until he retired in September 2007. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Camden County at the Harrietts Bluff station for many years.

Survivors include his sisters, Vickey (late Ben) Wilson of Claxton, Gladys (Leo "Pete") Gay of Kingsland and Lou (Wesley) Morgan of Folkston; brothers, Joe Robinson, Everett (Carolyn) Robinson and Zade Robinson, all of Folkston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Deloach, Emma Mae Field, Lucille Roberts and Ada Caudill; and brothers, Earl Robinson, Cecil Robinson, Jack Robinson and Owen Robinson.

A private graveside service was held on Monday, March 9 at Brewton Cemetery in Claxton, with Pastor Darrell Vroman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Golden Isles Hospice in Brunswick in Robinson's honor.

Arrangements were under the direction of J Mellie Nesmith Funeral Home in Claxton.
