Mrs. Ida Swayzee, 59, died at the St. Joseph hospital in South Bend Monday. Mrs. Swayzee had been living temporarily with her daughter, Mrs. Mahlon Royer at South Bend during the construction of her home on an adjoining lot and was just ready to move into her new place when she was taken seriously ill last Thursday. Ida Alice, the daughter of George and Deborah Ann Stewart, was born near Star City, October 31, 1868. She was married to William Grant Swayzee on December 31, 1887. Mr. Swayzee preceded her in death 22 years. She leaves five children; Mrs. Mahlon Royer and Forrest of South Bend; Clarence of Three Rivers, Michigan; Cecil, of Paw Paw, Michigan, and Merl of Glendive, Montana; one sister, Mrs. Jemima White, her stepmother Mrs. Rebekah Stewart and two brothers, Ed Stewart of Chicago and Frank, of Star City. The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Rebekah Stewart Wednesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. A. M. Hagenbook officiating. Interment was made in the Star City cemetery. (Winamac Republican, Thu Aug 16, 1928)
