Richard E. Whitman, of Quakertown and formerly of Hilltown Twp., PA, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Quakertown Center – Genesis Health Care, Quakertown, PA. He was 73.

Born in West Rockhill Twp., PA, he was the son of the late E. Earl and Ruth (Bishop) Whitman. He was a 1961 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, PA.

A machinist, he was employed by Penn Engineering, Danboro, PA, from 2002 until retiring in 2006. Previously, he worked for the former Pennfield Precision, Sellersville, PA, from 1978 until 2002. Earlier, he was employed by the former Kollsman Motors, Dublin, PA.

Mr. Whitman attended St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Dublin.

A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group. He also enjoyed hunting at the family cabin in Sullivan County, PA.

He is survived by two daughters, Glenda M. Powers, of Davie, FL, and Beth A. Whitman, of Ottsville, PA; a son, Robert E. Whitman, of Perkasie; four grandchildren, Oliver and Zachary Powers, and Haley and Amy Viall; and his former wife and mother of his children, Carol J. Pysher.

His Funeral Services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
