Parker. LuVerne E. Jurgens, 88 died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Viborg.

LuVerne Edwin Jurgens was born on September 28, 1927 near Chancellor, SD to Henry and Winnie (Krull) Jurgens. He served in the US Army during WW II, having been stationed in Japan.

On July 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Avis Chirstensen at Hurley.

They farmed in the Chancellor area before moving into Parker in 1992. For 15 years they enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. He was a lifelong member of the Chancellor Reformed Church, Bertus Jurgens American Legion Post 283, and the Par Mar Valley Country Club.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Avis; his children Marcia (Dan) Nielsen, Hurley and Brian (Kathy) Jurgens, Parker; 4 grandchildren Erin (Scott), Christopher (Erin), Mindy (Chris), and Adam (Kelsey); and 2 great grandchildren, Kelyn and Crosby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters, Harold, William, Bert, Nina, Viola, Mayona, and Lawrence.
