Martha was the daughter of John S. & Sarah Ann (Bennett) Bostick. Her siblings were Margaret Amanda, Mildred Jane, Helen Mary, William C. & Alfred W.

She married John Thruston in Van Buren, Crawford Co, AR on April 25, 1850. They had seven children who were born in Van Buren. Three died young: John, Jr. (July 7, 1851 - March 29, 1852); Hugh F.(Nov. 1858 - Aug. 5, 1860; & John Richard (November 8, 1867 - December 16, 1870). All are buried in Van Buren near their father who died April 28, 1869.

The children who survived to adulthood are:
1.John S. 1853)
2.Mary Magnolia "Nolla," (March 06, 1854 - June 5, 1883). She married Chester Ashley Woodruff.
3.Syme B. (November 19, 1856 - November 7, 1879).
4.Beverly (January 12, 1861 - November 24, 1947). He married Maude Eleanor Mesler.

Martha's father operated a hotel near the river in Van Buren known as the "Mansion House." In 1860 she & John & their three children (Mary, John, & Hugh) were residents in the hotel. As were other members of the Bostick family. Nine years later John had died, and Martha had given birth to three more children.

In June 1880 Martha, age 49, lived in Des Arc, Prairie Co, AR, with her daughter, Mary "Nolla," and husband, Chester Woodruff, & their two children, Grace & Charley. Chester had a job as a book keeper.

On June 2, 1900 Martha, age 69, lived in San Antonio, TX with her granddaughter, Grace, and her husband, Alexander Davis, who had been married one year. (Grace was the daughter of Martha's daughter, Nolla, & husband, Chester Woodruff.) The Federal Census record shows that Martha had seven children, but only one was living.

Martha's sister, Mildred Jane, who married David Heard in Van Buren on November 9, 1860, also lived in San Antonio. She had been in San Antonio since the close of the Civil War. David had died in 1908 and Mildred in 1909.

Other members of the family staying with Grace & Alexander were hiss mother, Doana Davis, age 56, who was a widow and two of his sisters, May Davis & Nina (Davis), a widow. Alexander was a stenographer for the railroad.

Martha was still living with Grace & Alexander in San Antonio on April 19, 1910. They had been married 11 years, and Alexander was working in real estate/ They had three children: Freeman, Martha, & Mildred. The census record indicated that Martha had given birth to seven children, and one was living.

Martha was still living with her granddaughter in San Antonio when she died from Acute Nephritis at 6:40 on Nov. 18, 1916. She had lived 85 years, 7 months, & 7 days. Her son-in-law, Alexander, shown as Mr. Davis on her death certificate, was the informant on her death record.

Martha was buried on Nov. 19 in the Altgelt family plot in the row with her sister, Mildred, & family.
