James Willard Thurman was born December 25, 1935, in Crossville, Tennessee, to the late Hugh Thurman and Bonnie Pearl Kirby Thurman. Willard was married to Willa Dean Simmons Thurman. She preceded him in death in 2002, along with his parents, a brother, Orville Thurman, and his son-in-law, Jamie Lowhorn. Before Willard became disabled, he worked as a welder for LamSteel Corporatation in Hartsville, Tennessee. He enjoyed fishing and taking walks, but most of all Willard loved to watch wrestling. He attended Grace Baptist Church here in Lafayette. On Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the age of eighty years, one month, and two days, Willard was called to his Heavenly Home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. James Willard Thurman is survived by; Sons, Bill Patterson and wife, Margaret, Gene A. Patterson, and Kenny Patterson; Daughter, Shelia Lowhorn; Grandchildren, Chad Patterson, Lindsey Patterson, Timmy Lowhorn and wife, Rhonda, Torrey Lowhorn and wife, Clarissa, Elizabeth Patterson, and Courtney Patterson. Graveside services for James Willard Thurman were conducted on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1 PM from Drury Cemetery with Elder Jackie Wakefield officiating. Interment followed.
