Wabash Plaindealer: Tuesday night at midnight occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ewing, one of the pioneer residents of Wabash county at her home four miles northwest of Wabash.
Until two weeks ago she had been in excellent health considering her age, 85 years. She was taken ill suddenly with stomach trouble and this combined with heart trouble hastened the end.
She had always been remarkably active and was possessed of wonderful vitality. Always of a cheerful and lovable disposition she will be sadly missed.
Elizabeth Munger was born near Dayton, Montgomery county, Ohio, May 4, 1821. She was united in marriage July 25, 1847, with Samuel S. Ewing at Bentonville, Ind., and they removed to this county in 1853, locating on the farm then uncleared, where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. There were nine children, five of whom survive as follows: Orlando S. Ewing, Samuel Ewing, Mrs. Thomas Jones, Mrs. Linda Wilcox and Mrs. Elias Hale, the latter of Bluffton. The deceased is also survived by two brothers and one sister, they being Edmund Munger and Lazarus Munger, of Bentonville, and Mrs. Mary Hensley, of Indianapolis. The deceased was preceded in death by her husband four years ago.
She was a member of the Christian church and always took a pleasure in aiding those who were in need and deserving.
John Manlove and daughter, Lola, Miss Lou Manlove, and Mrs. Laura Myers, of Bentonville, and Emery Manlove of Connersville, were in attendance at the funeral.
The funeral services were held from the late residence Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Drs. Charles Little and E. F. Daugherty of this city officiating. Burial in Falls cemetery.
