Carlton Dean Bradford

Heaven gained another angel today. Carlton Dean Bradford, 75, of Rock Creek, formerly of Dry Creek, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home at 11:22 a.m. on January 27, 2016 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, after a long illness.

Born on March 29, 1940 at Dry Creek. He was born to the late Albert Casper (Cap) and Maxine Burnside Bradford of Dry Creek. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Parker and Dora Jarrell Bradford and Theodore Jack and Eva Ballard Burnside, two sisters Coretta (Sue) Bradford and Sandra (Kay) Miller, two brothers James (Jim) and wife Wanda Adkins Bradford, Charles (Dale) Bradford, brother-in-law Charles Lego, sister-in-law Jean Gunnoe Bradford, nephews Greg Lego and Kevin Miller.

Dean is survived by his wife Drema (Penny) Skaggs of 40 years. Together in their marriage they were blessed with two wonderful sons Travis and wife Donna and their son Justin Bradford of Morganton, N.C. and Jason and wife Brenda and their two daughters Brianna and Natalie Bradford of Rockwell, N.C. Dean is also survived by a sister Deloris (Dodie) Lego of Brookpark, Ohio; three brothers Robin Bradford of Shady Spring, John and Mona Bradford of Florida and Harold (Glen) Bradford of Dry Creek. Lots of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Dean attended Marsh Fork High School. He worked in the mines for 23 years and was a member of the UMWA. Dean loved spending time with family and friends, spending time outdoors, digging ginseng, hunting, fishing and pitching horseshoes. His grandkids were his life. He loved their visits and going to visit with them. Dean also attended the Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Church at Dry creek.

Family and friends may gather at Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. for funeral services, with Rev. Houston Lafferty and Rev. Roger Mullins. Singers will be Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Singers. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Ballard/Jarrell Cemetery at Dry Creek. Pallbearers will be nephews.

Armstrong Funeral Home is serving the family.
