Mr. L. E. Hudson.

The death of Mr. L. E. Hudson occurred at the Touro in New Orleans, Friday morning, where he was taken Wednesday night for treatment, and died shortly after being operated upon Friday.

The remains were brought home and interred Sunday afternoon in the presence of one of the largest number of citizens who have assembled for a funeral in Natchitoches in a long time, the Masons conducting the ceremony at the grave, after the services at the Baptist Church, of which he was one of the Stewards.

For the past few years, Mr. Hudson has had serious stomach trouble, his recovery, about two years ago, being almost miraculous as it was from a severe attack a few months ago, and finally he consented to the operation that specialists agreed was absolutely necessary, after another attck last week, and possibly delayed too long.

For the past eight years Mr. Hudson has been superintendent of schools and during his administration, education progress in this parish was marked, the standard being raised, one room schools and rural consolidated several high school buildings erected and well equipped and rural transfers installed.

He was a public spirited man and took an active part in many public affairs and was a leader in church circles.

A wife and six children, one a babe of a few weeks, besides other relatives survives.
