Excerpts from The Gadsden Times, Dec. 21, 2008: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crestwood Chapel for Shirley "Uncle Earl" Addison, 86, Gadsden, who died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Addison was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He served his country sacrificially during WWII as an Army paratrooper. Afterward, he worked at the Anniston Army Depot for more than 30 years. He was a member of Paden Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Wilma Conn Addison; daughters, Candace Addison, Gadsden, and Linda (Larry) Harris, Rainbow City; sister, Joyce Garrett, Collinsville; grandchildren; extended family. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home is in charge.
