Earl Robert Altmann was born on August 9, 1929, in West Newton Township to Herbert J. and Amelia (Bastian) Altmann. He was united in marriage to Beverly on April 27, 1957. Earl loved to work on anything that was built before the 1960s, including restoring several Model-T Fords. He spent many hours researching historic sites where he metal detected for valuable artifacts. He spent many hours in the woods being eaten alive by mosquitoes while sifting through dirt for hidden treasures. Earl also enjoyed fishing with family. In later years, he enjoyed watching the Price is Right and competing with his grandson. He almost always won. By far, his favorite thing was spending time with his family around the kitchen table, talking smart and shooting the breeze.
