Victor A. Bourasaw, 80, a 35-year resident of Sedro-Woolley, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1982, at the Madigan Hospital in Tacoma. He was born in Festus, MO., in 1901.
Mr. Bourasaw served 24 years in the U.S. Navy and was present during the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. He saw action in all the major combat theaters during WWII, and retired as Chief Boatswain's Mate in 1946.
He married Hazel Kirks in California in 1932. The couple lived in Missouri, California and New YOrk before settling in Skagit County, where they resided since 1952.
Mr. Bourasaw was active in Sedro-Woolley community affairs, mainly as a member of the George Baldridge Post #43, American Legion. He served as post commander in 1957. He was an active member in the color guard and the firing squadron.
He served as president of the annual Loggerrodeo celebration from 1961 to 1963 and aided in the construction of the Sedro-Woolley community center.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; the Pearl Harbor Survivors; the Fleet Reserve Association; the Fraternal Order of the Eagles; and an Honorable member of the Sedro-Woolley Jayceess.
Mr. Bourasaw is survived by his wife Hazel; two sons, Jerry of Vancouver, B.C. and Noel in Seattle; plus three grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Building Fund, or to a favorite charity.
The family will meet friends from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, Feb. 12 at the Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.
