Claro Ricardo Agueros, went home to our Lord peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 22, 2016, at the age of 76. Claro is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maria Noelia, their children, Belinda Agueros, Maria “Maggie” Cortes, Claro Ricardo Agueros, Jr., Rudolfo Agueros, and Veronica Agueros Martinez, twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and Mr. Claro Agueros’ siblings, Justo (Eddie) Agueros, Frank Agueros, Virginia Gonzales, Evangelina Vargas, Ernest Agueros, Gloria Magallanez, and Elizabeth Agueros, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by parents, Justo and Isabel Agueros.

Claro was born on August 12, 1939 in Socorro, Texas. He attended Edgewood High School in San Antonio, where he met his beautiful high school sweetheart, Maria Noelia, and made her his wife. The couple was blessed with five children whom lovingly remember Claro as a gentle, patient, forgiving, supportive and selfless father.

Claro answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army in 1957. His service included direct combat in the Vietnam War, and during his military career he earned and received the following Honors and Medals: the National Defense Service Medal; the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; a Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; a Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze 5 Loops; an Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster; a Drivers Badge, Driver –W; a Bronze Star Medal; and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. A dedicated soldier and countryman, he served proudly and gallantly for more than 22 years until his Retirement in 1979.

After coming home to San Antonio, Claro returned to school and completed his Baccalaureate Degree at Southwest Texas University, taught as a vocational education instructor, and later continued his education and was employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse until full retirement in 2001.

Claro lived life to the fullest, passing on his legacy of commitment to family, love and faith in God, and respect for others. He taught best by example and instilled these qualities in his children and generations to come. He was passionate about spending time with his family and was the pillar of support for all, attending important family life events whenever possible. He also loved gardening, playing cards, watching sports and western movies. He especially enjoyed sharing his quick wit when you least expected, with a barely audible wisecrack remark.
