Margaret Bowlin Debar was always very cheerful and kind to everyone she met. She was the oldest daughter of Martha (Hartenhoff) and Alvin Bowlin. Margaret had siblings; Dorothy and Ronald and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. When they moved to 6th Avenue in Council Bluffs, Margaret became acquainted with the Goehring, Moser and Cowles families. She married Ralph Marvin DeBar on June 7, 1941 in Rockport, Missouri and they were blessed with two children, Gloria Jean and Ralph Marvin Jr. (Rick). Margaret was a homemaker until her children were grown and then was employed at an insurance agency for 10 years before retiring. She volunteered at Jennie Edmundson Hospital and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 1977by the auxillary. She and her husband Marvin were recognized in 1984 and 1988 as the “Outstanding Volunteer Couple of the Year” by the Council Bluffs Volunteer Bureau. Margaret also was a member of P.E.O., chapter LP and president of Zonta Club. When Marvin was pastor of the Riverside Congregation of the RLDS Church she very active as the minister's wife and took pride in everything having to do with the concern of members. She was very proud of her grandchildren; Becky, John, David and Mark and elated to be a great grandmother to; Kaetlynn, Emmalie, Alex and Natalie. Margaret was unselfish and caring always, giving her support and love to all.
