Celia Lenore Pease, age 85, of Lamoni, Iowa, daughter of Floyd Earl and Stella (Knott) Adair, was born January 2, 1914, in Putnam, Oklahoma, and died September 9, 1999, at Lamoni Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lamoni.

Lenore grew up in Linden, Iowa, where her parents ran a restaurant. Lenore then moved to Hatfield, Missouri, and she graduated from Hatfield High School in 1931.

Lenore married Wayne Richard Pease on February 3, 1941. To this union, three children were born: James Donald, Jean Ann, and Thomas Wayne.

The early years of Lenore and Wayne's marriage were spent living and farming with Lenore's parents near Lamoni. In 1946 Lenore and Wayne moved to their own farm west of Lamoni, where they spent the remainder of their married years together. Lenore helped Wayne on the farm.

Lenore was a dedicated mother to her three children. She was a strong supporter of education. Lenore and Wayne encouraged their children and provided a college education for all of them. Lenore and Wayne attended the Tuskegoo Baptist Church in Decatur County, Iowa. Lenore later became a member of the Lamoni United Methodist Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and in W.S.C.S.

Lenore is remembered by her family as a good cook and quilter, a lover of nature and their farm, an avid and knowledgeable reader who kept up on current events, a woman who had opinions and spoke her mind, and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Wayne Pease in 1987.

Lenore is survived by her three children: Jim Pease and wife Diane of Richmond, Missouri, Jean Ann Sheridan and husband Donald of Afton, Iowa, and Tom Pease and wife Pam of Lamoni; 8 grandchildren: Matt Sheridan, Katie Pease, Daniel Pease, Kristy Pease, Scott Pease, Josh Pease, Andy Pease, and John Pease; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 1999, at Lamoni United Methodist Church in Lamoni, Iowa with Rev. Paddy Druhl officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni. Services were conducted by Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.
