Mrs. Dorothy F. (Ferguson) Sollenberger, 85, of 5964 Marsh Road, Waynesboro and formerly of 228 Geiser Avenue, Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, January 23, 2016, in Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 1, 1930 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Gladys (Tharp) Ferguson.
She was a graduate of Washington Township High School with the Class of 1948.
She and her husband, the late Mr. Grove K. Sollenberger, were married January 17, 1954. Mr. Sollenberger passed away August 16, 1988.
In her early years, Mrs. Sollenberger was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill and The Bread Store on South Potomac Street, Waynesboro. Prior to her retirement in 2000, she worked at Eichholz Flowers, Waynesboro for 20 years.
Mrs. Sollenberger attended Germantown Bethel Church of God, Cascade, MD for many years and was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Waynesboro for the past 45 years. During her life, she started teaching Sunday School at the age of 16 and continued teaching right up until her illness on December 27, 2015. She was a dedicated volunteer and supported Samaritan's Purse which she collected shoeboxes and filled them throughout the year, New Tribes Mission and OMS International. She also was a volunteer for Child Evangelism Fellowship and Waynesboro Area Human Services.
Mrs. Sollenberger is survived by one son, John M. Sollenberger and his wife, Kristin of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Jordan Kathleen, Erin Elizabeth and Addison Grace Sollenberger; and one sister, Myrna Ferguson of Waynesboro.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Grace Brethren Church, 250 Philadelphia Avenue, Waynesboro with Pastor Roger K. Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro.
