YORK Martha E. Burkett, 91, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Burkett.

Martha was born on March 13, 1919, in Bryantsville, Ky., daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Stoltz) Woods.

She enjoyed doing embroidery, working puzzle books, and especially daily reading of the Bible. She was also a big Elvis Presley fan. She was of the United Methodist faith. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Barbara Santiago, wife of Carmelo of York; one grandson, Mark Santiago; a greatgrandson, Mark Matthew Santiago; and a sister, Ginny Sands of Hebron, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mattie, Carrie, Dora Francis, Bernice, and Theresa; three brothers, Ezra, Chester, and Floyd; and several nieces and nephews. The service and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice, 218 E. Market St., York, PA 17401. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York, is entrusted with the arrangements. KefferFH.com
