Funeral Services for Herman F. "Doc" Godwin, 83, will be at 3:00 p.m Saturday, January 23,. in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Matt Benedick officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.

Son of the late Wade Cornelius and Della Frances (Boydston) Godwin, Doc was born March 2, 1932 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Surrounded by his loving family he passed away Thursday morning, January 21, 2016 at his Ardmore residence.
He served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Army Occupation Medal for both Germany and Japan; the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Campaign Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Medics badge. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

Doc and the former Louella Bray married that same year and would have celebrated their 60th Anniversary this March. Following his military service he worked on the assembly line and was an inspector for General Motors in Texas. Following his retirement he returned to Ardmore and began a successful upholstery business.

Doc was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Masonic Lodge #31 AF & AM; Lone Grove Lodge #25 AF & AM; was Past Worshipful Master of Hewitt Lodge (Wilson) AF & AM, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and the York Rite, the India Temple Shrine, and was active in the Ardmore Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife Louella of the home, two sons, Mike of Springer and George of Ardmore, a daughter Jacqueline Hays of Springer, grandchildren, Brandon Wade Godwin, Arianna Spencer, Joshua Kent Godwin, Tiffany Paddox, Traci Godwin, Chris, Roxane, Jayme and Makala Hays, and great grandchildren, Avery Hays, Parker Godwin, Ava Godwin, Lila and Arai Paddox; Bentley Godwin, Devon Godwin, Josie Godwin and Faith Godwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harvey and Chester Godwin and sisters Grace Thompson and Ruth Baker, and his great grandson, Braxton Godwin.
