He married Cora Belle Dewel June 22, 1905, in Des Moines. They have one daughter, Elinor Ann. George was in the grocery store business in Maxwell for many years. Cora was born in Goldfield, Iowa, October 6, 1883. She was the daughter of Ira G. and Jane Marie Shoen Dewel. Ira was a banker and lumberman in Maxwell for many years. Cora graduated from East High and Drake University in Des Moines. Both George and Cora are buried in the Maxwell Cemetery. Elinor Ann was born at Algona, Iowa, April 27, 1918. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1935, attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines and worked at Bankers Life in Des Moines. Elinor married J. Morris Christy December 28, 1938. They have four children and four grandchildren. Elinor is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and has been President of the United Presbyterian Women and the Parent Teacher Association. He has a doll collection of almost 300 dolls. Elinor lives with her husband Morris in Marshalltown, and works part time for the YM-YWCA as a bookkeeper.
