DORIS T. RAINEY
Doris T. Rainey was born September 16, 1903, in Decatur County, Iowa, the daughter of Ira and Jennie Wadley and departed this life November 1, 1996, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center where she was a resident for three years and three months.
On September 23, 1927, Doris was united in marriage to Carl Rainey in Bethany, Missouri. To this union were born three children, Darlene Harvey, Carleta Rainey, and Richard Rainey.
Doris and Carl were married for 66 years and her years on the farm were happy and busy. In later years, they spent a few months each winter at their home in Missouri which they enjoyed, and all their friends there were very special.
Doris was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Kellerton. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all who cared for her at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Jennie Wadley, her loving husband Carl, daughter Carleta, five brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors are one daughter, Darlene Harvey and husband Paul; one son, Richard Rainey and wife Karen; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura McKee; brother-in-law Ivan Rainey and wife Lois; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at Wilson-Wason & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on November 4, 1996. Officiating was Pastor Joyce Smith. Music was provided by Mrs. Keith Sackett and Mrs. Tom Larson. Casket bearers were Jack Hoffman, Gene Hoffman, Ivan Rainey, Mike Madden, Ron Rainey, and David Rainey. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.
