NORWALK - Sadie I. "Sue" (Johnston) Bowers, 82, of Norwalk, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, in Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky. She was born March 8, 1924, in Stearns, Ky. to Lewis J. and LuEtta (Shepherd) Hamlin, now deceased, and moved to this area in 1945 from there. She was employed by Sandusky Memorial Hospital for many years and provided "in-home" nursing care in the Norwalk area. She was a member of Norwalk First United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Queen Esther Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Stars. She was also a member of Red Hat Society at Parkvue and was an avid collector of glass shoes. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Luetta (Larry) Fox of Sandusky; Duvera (Fred) Graf of Westlake, Ohio; Darlene Muntean of Chester Springs, Pa., and Lori Gaynok of Berlin Heights; son, David (Linda) Johnston of Tampa, Fla., 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Doris Livengood and Julia Browand, both of Florida; and one brother, Joe Hamlin of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bowers in 2000; three sisters; and one brother.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. today until services at 4:30 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Edna Stahl, associate pastor of Norwalk First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Private graveside services will take place in Milan Cemetery.
