Lucille Basler of Leedey, Oklahoma

Edna “Lucille” (Cummings) Basler passed from this life on January 19, 2016 at the age of 90 in Lawrence, KS. Lucille was born May 30, 1925 to Harry L. (Pete) and Ruth Cummings on the farm 4 miles south of Leedey, OK.

Lucille went to Prairie View Grade School and then finished at Leedey High School. On June 3, 1944 she was united in marriage to Oy Basler at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Over the next few years their family grew to six with the birth of their four children, Bobby, Patty, Jerry, and Danny. Oy and Lucille eventually moved to Leedey where they remained for the next 30 years.

Lucille was a homemaker who also worked as a bank teller, helped on the farm, and drew house plans for their construction company.

Lucille accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized on April 5, 1942. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Leedey, OK. Lucille taught Sunday school, helped with Bible study, and was a Vacation Bible School Teacher. Lucille was a member of the Senior Citizens of Leedey and enjoyed fellowship everyday with her senior friends.

Lucille enjoyed writing, reading, painting, and traveling. She liked to spend time with her family and enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV for many years. Lucille was a loving mother who taught her children to work hard and achieve to their highest potential. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy to her.

Preceded in death are her parents, Pete and Ruth Cummings, husband, Oy Basler, and brother-in-law Jim Perry.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Bobby Basler and wife Diane, Leedey, OK, Patty Huntzinger and husband Tom, Lawrence, KS, Jerry Basler and wife Christina, Piedmont, OK, and Danny Basler and wife Teresa, Fenton, MO; grandchildren, Jeremy Basler and wife Alison, Jennifer Little and husband Chad, Joel Basler and wife Jennifer, Erin Oliva and husband Mike, Amber Randel and husband Jeff, Kristin Hoskins and husband Curtis, Jeffrey Basler and wife Kimberly, Arina Basler and Anton Basler; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Basler, Jadyn Basler, Paden Little, Emma Basler, Josie Little, Katie Basler, Anna Randel, Lily Basler, Samantha Randel, Alex Oliva, Sadie Hoskins, Piper Hoskins, Cade Clifton, and Kyler Basler; sister, Ruth Evelyn Perry, Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Eden Turrentine and husband Monte; nephew, James Perry; great niece, Caitlin Graham and a lifetime of friends.
