Graveside service for Bonita May Gibson, 72, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, with Dr. Jim Godbey officiating. Mrs. Gibson died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Mesa, Ariz. She was born May 10, 1929, in Dodge City, to William and Eva Ruth Anderson Williamson. She grew up in Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School. While in high school, she was on the drill team. On June 26, 1947, she married Jimmie Lee Gibson in Dodge City, where they lived for six years. A homemaker, she also was the secretary for her husband's business. After their retirement in 1985, they traveled throughout the United States in their motorhome until settling in Mesa. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, crafts and oil painting. Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl Gibson of Oklahoma City, and Jaylene Reed of Midwest City, Okla.; a grandson; a granddaughter, a great-grandson; her mother, of Garden City; three brothers, Jack and Gene Williamson, both of Garden City, and Larry Williamson of Hawaii; and a sister, Grace Lane of Mesa. Her husband died July 26, 2006. She was preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Arlene Dickerson. Mrs. Gibson will be inurned along with her husband at services Saturday in Dodge City.
