Della, age 87, died in her sleep at her home near Dixon's Ferry. She was the daughter of Wiley and Sally (Brewer) Collins. She married Stephen James Dixon on January 6, 1881, and had four children; a son died in infancy.
She is survived by her children, Harvey and Victoria, and her brothers, Alex and George Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her infant son, her daughter, Fanny Kanode, her parents, and her siblings, Guy Collins, Preston Collins, Reaves Collins, and Fanny Hampton.
Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Galax, Virginia. Interment was in the family cemetery overlooking New River.
