"Sonny" attended Aurora East High School before his military service in the Army, where he received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal before he was honorably discharged. Later he was employed by the city of Aurora as a surveyor.
Sonny is survived by four children Lindsey Hull of Florida, Andre, Pierre and Tiffany Taylor of Aurora all of whom he cherished very much; his father Lee A. Allen, Sr. of Mississippi; four sisters Ernestine Harris, May Allen, Ebone "Willie" Graham Barker of California, Rose Barker; two brothers Nathaniel Allen and Ray P. Buckner, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother Mattie L. Buckner.
Sonny was humble and proud; he taught us there is no way to treat people other than to "accept them as they are".
Lee Allen was buried with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
