Del was born in Oxnard, CA and in her early years worked in the packing house on Ventura Avenue with her sisters, later as a Lab Assistant at Foster Hospital (now Community Memorial Hospital), played soft ball, bowled at the Wagon Wheel Bowling Alley and it has been said that in the 1940's was one of three sisters beauty Queens on a Float in an Oxnard Parade.
Del had a gaggle of brothers and sisters who all spent a good portion of their adult lives in Ventura County. Brothers, James Martinez lives in Malibu, CA and Augustine Esperance of Ventura past a few years earlier. Del's sisters Jenny Georgia Hinostro, Catherine "Katie" Ledbetter, Beatrice "Aunty Bea" Hinostro, Carmen Lautenschlager, Angela "Angie" Ruiz, and Anna Hill all preceded Del in death. The sisters, brothers, spouses, children and grandchildren had weekly family gatherings celebrating Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, any reason to have a Bar-B-Que. Family Bar-B-Ques brought friends and relatives from all over Ventura, Santa Barbara and LA Counties.
Del and her beloved husband, Jesse J. Garcia, were married in Ojai, CA at the Old Mission. Jesse passed in April 2001. Del is survived by son, Peter J. Garcia; granddaughters, Cassandra and Alexis Garcia; daughter, Caroline E. Garcia-Segura; grandsons, Donald A. Hermanson, Matthew and Sue Hermanson; and great granddaughter, Mia Hermanson of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Visitation and Rosary will be held at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura, Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Viewing will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with recitation of the rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass for Del will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road, in Ventura, Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 11:00 am.
