Clarence Linwood Black graduated with the degrees of A. B. and A. M., at Davidson College, N. C, and afterwards graduated from the School of Chemistry in Yale University, and has held a number of important places of trust, such as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Davidson College, Assistant to State Chemist in North Carolina, Assayer in the United States Mint in Charlotte, N. C, Assistant in charge of the Remsen Board Laboratory at Yale University ; and is at present holding a high position in the Bureau of Chemistry in the Department of Agriculture of the United States Government, and has been stationed at Washington, D. C. New York, N. Y., and Philadelphia, Pa. Clarence Linwood Black married Margaret MacEachern, a daughter of John F. and Margaret MacEachern, of Raeford, N. C. His wife is an alumna of Agnes Scott and lBaldwin Seminaries, a lady of great personal charm, rare accomplishments, and most lovable disposition, who is warmly welcomed as a bright addition to our clan
