Agnes E. M. Holmquist arrived in New York, New York in 1894, an immigrant from Copenhagen, Denmark at about 14 years of age. She was married to Elbert Rappleye, perhaps in 1896, and living in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey in 1897 where she participated in social activities such as The Afternoon Whist Club and the Woman's Club of Jersey City. Agnes and Elbert had relocated to Rockland, Knox County, Maine by 1919. Following Elbert's death in 1923, Agnes remained in the Rockland area until at least 1950. She died at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1959.

Agnes and Elbert had a daughter, Agnes S. Rappleye who married Donald Taylor Brewster.
