Prominent Old Quincy
Family -- Funeral Tuesday
Afternoon.
___

Mrs. Harriett Wood Shinn, wife of William H. Shinn, died yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at the family residence, 1215 Park Place, Mrs. Shinn had been an invalid for over ten years and recently had been failing steadily. Everything that could be was done to relieve her sufferings, which she bore patiently, but it was of no avail and death was in a way a relief to her. She was a woman of lovely character and had countless friends, all of whom will grieve with the family at this time.

Mrs. Shinn was born in Quincy November 10, 1848, and had spent her entire life here. She was a member of one of this city's oldest and most prominent families, her father having been the late Andrew Wood, a cousin of Governor John Wood. On March 18, 1868, she was married to William H. Shinn, who with four daughters, namely, Mrs. William Eull, of Quincy; Mrs. Wilfred Amburn, of Fort Dodge, Ia.; Mrs. E. Percy Brown, of Quincy, and Miss Alva Shinn, at home, survive. Mrs. Shinn also leaves two brothers, Wallace and Henry Wood, and two sisters, Miss Ella Wood and Mrs. M. H. Dickinson, all of Kansas City. Edwin Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Percy Brown, is the only grandchild.

The funeral will be held at the late residence, 1215 Park Place, Thursday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, and friends are invited to the service. The burial will be private.
